The lecture is intended to teach unique methods of enhancing observational skills to physicians, in an effort to enhance the detection of critical findings.
- Balloon Angiography Kit:(Patent Pending) The kit was developed by Dr. Gerard to teach the concepts of angiography to medical students, residents and all allied health professionals. The kit includes an instruction booklet, balloons, guidewires, Seldinger needles and all the utilities needed to learn the techniques of angiography, without the patient. For more information, contact Dr. Gerard.
- Balloon Anatomy Kit:(Patent Pending) The kit was developed by Dr. Gerard to teach a 3 dimensional technique for learning the organs, vessels and all the structures of the body. The kit includes the balloons and instruction booklets needed to learn and create balloon anatomy. For more information, contact Dr. Gerard.
- “Give Me 30 Minutes And One Balloon And I Will Teach You Nuclear Cardiology”: This lecture was presented at Maimonides Medical Center and several other institutions with great success in the understanding of nuclear cardiology. Dr. Gerard will teach you the basic understanding of how the nuclear cardiology is performed, the views of the heart and blood supply to each region, stress testing and nuclear pharmacology agents, how artifacts occur and finally how to read a nuclear cardiology study. This lecture has been repeated many times as per request of medical residents and attendings and presented at grand rounds.
- How To Help Teach Biology Using Balloons: Dr. Gerard has lectured teachers and students at several schools including Bishop Ford High School and Ogden Middle School on using balloons which are 3 dimensional to help understand the concepts of biology and anatomy.
- How To Help Teach Anatomy and Physiology Using Balloons:Dr. Gerard has utilized balloons to teach the anatomy utilized by radiologists for many years. He can virtually create the human body from various balloons, show diseases and treatments all with balloon. This lecture gives the teacher and student a 3 dimensional understanding of anatomy and therefore allows increased learning and memory retention. It also makes the course more interesting and fun to learn.
- Learning To Read A Chest Radiograph Using Balloons:Dr. Gerard was involved in teaching the Lucy Squire Course in Radiology for many years under the supervision of Dr. Lucy Squire. He created his own methods of analyzing chest radiographs which have been met with great success in understanding how to approach the chest radiograph by medical students, radiology and medical residents and attendings and emergency medicine residents. He utilizes balloons with chest radiographs to simulate anatomy and pathology to help understand chest anatomy and radiography.
